so fast one week of raya past...now its back to reality...haha...gotta focus in school...Uts coming up...everything shifted since the hols..so now its microB on monday....kinda slack today...quite easy problem on waterborne diseases...im done with work so im officially slacking...hahaa lesson in heavy metal terminology...subgenresBlack metal - characterised by a dark, cold atmosphere, vocals are usually shrieked, screamed, with the lyrical themes often being depressing.Satanic or anti-Christian in nature.(sOo not into this)Death metal - subsidiary of thrash metal pushed to more brutal extremes.Vocals are usually growled. The lyrical content usually deals with the darker, nihilistic side of human imagination, dealing with blood, death, gore, and Satan. (melodic death is fine but death ermm...)Gothic Metal - synthesizes the guitaring styles of doom metal, black metal and death metal with its own unique use of heavy keyboard atmospherics, romantic and story-like lyrics and dual vocalists. (yes to gothic metal!)Metalcore - bands whose music combines both the raw vocals and beat of American hardcoregenerally with the guitars more often used in European thrash metal and melodic death metal.Controverisial genre as some do not consider it to be metal. (cant deny that i love as i lay dying)Neo-classical - incorporates elements from classical music, into the normal heavy metal sound, including tempos, instrument usage, and even melodies. Think Yngwie Malmsteen. (always say yes to malmsteen)Nu-metal - combines elements of heavy metal, hip hop and alternative rock music, with a downtuned guitar technique.E.g Korn (used to like the old korn but now...its all bullsh*T)Power metal - more upbeat than most metal genres. It often emphasizes clean, melodic, high-pitched vocals and fast pacing that is mostly driven by double kick drumming and melodic lead guitar.Power metal leans toward the positive, happy side of life, seeking to empower the listener and inspire joy and courage. Power metal usually carries fantasy or science fiction themes. (my current favourite...helps me stay positive!)Speed metal - sub-genre of heavy metal that uses traditional heavy metal song structures and riffing but with faster tempos and driving rhythms.Eg. Dragonforce (has elements of power metal...yes!)Symphonic metal - full orchestras, opera themes, vocals or keyboarding akin to that of opera or symphony music, and a softer and more upbeat nature than other metal genres.Eg.Nightwish (how can one say no to angelic voices)Trash metal - influenced more predominantly by hardcore punk. Thrash metal songs are usually fairly complex, and frequently contain constant time and tempo changes. Thrash metal replaces melody with brutality and speed, with the use of ample distortion.Eg metallica (as the name suggests..its trash)*credits to wikipediathere are many other diff subgenres but i jus listed the more common ones...wikipedia is very insighting!!
the sound of TRUTH.
